Sacramento’s diverse creative community makes Dîner en Blanc special
The magic of the evening was enhanced by a showcase of fabulous Sacramento talent from Shawn Thwaites Steel Drum; from the amazing performers and stilt walkers of Sacramento Contemporary Dance Theatre, We Fly High Lion Dance Group, and culminating with Apple Z, who gave us all the hits that had people boogying until the night ended!
Your event Hosts are delighted to feature the best of what Sacramento has to offer every year as part of the Dîner en Blanc experience. If you have suggestions for next year please let us know, and in the meantime please support the artists you saw by following them on social media, booking them or catching a performance sometime soon!
Chers amis, until next time!

ARTISTS AND ENTERTAINMENT PROFILES
Shawn is a Trinidadian-American musician and educator from Washington, DC. His area of expertise is unique – the steel drum, a relatively new and underexplored instrument born out of the colonial history of Trinidad and Tobago. His trademark style integrates the very best of his Trinidadian ancestry and his D.C. upbringing, intertwining jazz, hip-hop, funk, calypso, reggae, and more. This distinct sound, along with his coy style of performing, has helped establish Thwaites as a rare and sought after international recording artist, musician, and educator.
Sacramento Contemporary Dance Theatre
This is Sacramento Contemporary Dance Theatre’s third season as a premier dance company within the Sacramento Region. SCDT bridges local non-profits with the world of dance, championing their causes and raising funds. The group has worked with UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center, NorCal Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services, Agape International Missions, and Saint John’s Program for Change, as well as other local entities. Under the creative direction of choreographer Jacob Gutierrez-Montoya, SCDT will continue to showcase a masterful repertoire of modern jazz, ballet and contemporary dance.
Founded by Norman Lau in 2012, LionDanceMe took a traditional Chinese cultural art and transformed it into a modern entertainment company. Originally started as a single high school club, LionDanceME has since expanded and added programs in schools all around San Francisco.
Apple Z is a multi-award winning show that earned a reputation as one of Northern California’s most in-demand dance bands! With nonstop energy and world-class musicianship, Apple Z packs all dance floors and delight guests nationwide. Every event is paired with a carefully selected song list that will perfectly complement your event. Setlists consist of roots-of-rock classics, revolutionary 80’s & 90’s to the best of today’s top dance hits.
